REQUIREMENTS FOR GEOLOGIST BOARD EXAM 2024 – Here are the documents required for a licensure exam for the graduates of Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering.
In the Philippines, there are professions that require the graduates of the degrees in line with the profession to take a board exam to be a licensed professional. Most of these board exams are administered by the Professional Regulation Commission or PRC.
The Professional Regulation Commission is also the same body that administers licensure exams for the professions that have the biggest populations like the teachers and the nurses. Every year, it conducts several board exams for the graduates of the different degrees across the nation.
Thus, in several cases, the graduates prepare for these board exams right after their graduation. Others do self reviews while others enroll in review centers that can help them in preparing for the licensure exam.
One of the board exams administered by the PRC is the Geologist Board Exam. It is not only open for the graduates of Geological Engineering. It is open for the graduates of the following degrees:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geology
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Geological Engineering
- Master of Science (MS) in Geology
In applying for the board exam, there are requirements for Geologist Board Exam that must be prepared and submitted to the Commission. The list of documents needed for the application vary among the first-time takers, the repeaters, and the foreign nationals who want to take the exam.

First-Timers
- Birth Certificate issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) or the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)
- Marriage Contract issued by the NSO or PSA for married female applicants
- Transcript of Records (TOR) with scanned picture and Remarks “For Board Examination Purposes” (First Timer & Repeater)
- NBI Clearance
- must be valid for at least six (6) months since the date of the filing of the application for the board exam
- College Diploma
- latest Community Tax Certificate
Repeaters
- NBI Clearance
- must be valid for at least six (6) months since the date of the filing of the application for the board exam
Foreign Nationals
- copy of the national law or international treaty, agreement or covenant to prove reciprocity for the practice of Geology between the Philippines and his/her country as provided under Section 33 of Republic Act No. 10166
- Birth Certificate
- Marriage Certificate for married female applicants
- copy of Passport data page or any equivalent document to establish citizenship
- College Diploma and Transcript of Records with scanned picture
- Certificate of Good Moral Character to be issued by any of the following:
- empployer
- school/college/university
- any competent authority acceptable to the Board
